Sergey Eisenstein was a pioneering Soviet Russian film director and theorist, often called the "Father of Montage." After studying stage direction with Vsevolod Meyerhold, he produced the film Strike (1924), introducing his trademark film montage, weaving startling images between the main action to create a bold psychological impact. Other films include Alexander Nevsky and The Battleship Potemkin
