French author and playwright Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac was born on March 6, 1619, in Paris, France. He combined political satire and science fantasy to write acclaimed works such as the comedy The Pedant Imitated (1654). Post humorously, Cyrano is the subject of the Edmond Rostand's play Cyrano de Bergerac (1897) which depicts him as a chivalric duelist with a comically long nose. Cyrano died July 28, 1655, in Sannois, France.
