Rodolfo Anaya is a Mexican-American writer and educator who was born on October 30, 1937, in Pastura, New Mexico. Anaya taught high school and college courses while writing novels with groundbreaking Chicano themes. He received acclaim for Bless Me, Ultima (1972), Heart of Aztlán (1976) and Tortuga (1979). The author has greatly influenced the landscape of Chicano literature and continues to write books while garnering literary awards.
