Robert R Livingston was a politician, lawyer and diplomat from New York and is best known as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He served as the first Chancellor of New York for twenty five years, becoming universally known as "The Chancellor," retaining the nickname even after he left the office. Livingston administered the presidential oath of office to George Washington in 1789.
