Robert H. Jackson, the only Supreme Court justice who didn't graduate from any law school, began his climb as a successful lawyer in New York State. He was appointed to federal office by President Roosevelt in 1934 and first served as general counsel to the IRS. Jackson was a great defender of procedural due process. He is best known as the chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials.
