Robert Dale Owen, son of the Welsh social reformer Robert Owen, is best known for being integral to the founding of the Smithsonian Institution.
Robert Dale Owen, son of the Welsh social reformer Robert Owen, is best known for being integral to the founding of the Smithsonian Institution. He served in the United States House of Representatives during the 1800's and was a strong opponent to slavery, urging President Lincoln to end slavery just days before the Emancipation Proclamation was introduced.
