Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II was born on February 21, 2002, in La Mesa, California. Blanket is the third child of the late Michael Jackson. The identity of Prince's biological mother—a surrogate—is unknown. Blanket was 7 years old when his father, Michael Jackson, died on June 25, 2009. His grandmother, Katherine Jackson, became his legal guardian, as well as the guardian of his siblings, Michael Joseph and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. Blanket and his siblings attend private school in California.

Early Life

Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II was born in La Mesa, California, on February 21, 2002. Blanket is the third child of pop legend Michael Jackson. The identity of his biological mother, a surrogate, is unknown. Debbie Rowe, the mother of Michael Jackson's other two children—Paris Michael Katherine and Michael Joseph Jackson—publicly denied being Prince's biological mother, following his birth and, subsequently, media speculation regarding his conception.

Father's Death

On June 25, 2009, Blanket's father, Michael Jackson, suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles, and died shortly thereafter. Michael Jackson was 50 years old at the time of his death; Blanket was 7. As dictated by Michael Jackson's will, his mother (Blanket's grandmother), Katherine Jackson, became the legal guardian of Blanket, Michael Joseph and Paris Michael Katherine.

Michael Jackson's children have largely stayed out of the limelight, appearing publicly few times since their father's death. However, Blanket—along with Michael Joseph and Paris—spoke to his father's fans during his funeral in 2009, and again in January 2010, accepting a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for Michael Jackson at the Grammy Awards show.
