Philip III, also known as Philip the Good, was the Duke of Burgundy from 1419 until his death. During his reign Burgundy became a leading center of the arts, supporting Flemish artists such as Jan van Eyck and Hugo van der Goes. Philip is also remembered for being responsible for the capture of Joan of Arc in 1430, orchestrating a heresy trail against her, resulting in her death.
