In the 1940s, Nelson Riddle (born June 1, 1921) was a trombonist-arranger for the orchestras of Tommy Dorsey, Bob Crosby and Jerry Wald. His first noted arrangements were for singer Nat King Cole, but he went on to work with Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra. In his later years, he composed and arranged for TV shows Route 66, The Untouchables, and Batman.
