Born in Queens, New York, on September 14, 1973, rapper Nas was the son of a jazz musician. His song "Half Time" appeared on a movie soundtrack, bringing him to the attention of Columbia Records. His albums include Illmatic (1994), It Was Written (1996), Stillmatic (2001) and Hip Hop Is Dead (2006). Nas famously feuded with fellow East Coast rapper Jay-Z, but the two resolved the conflict in 2005.
