Murray Gell-Mann biography

Born September 15, 1929, Murray Gell-Mann entered Yale University at age 15, and got his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1953 he introduced the concept of "strangeness" to explain meson decay patterns. He then developed a system for classifying particles, giving the name "quark" to the basic building block of matter. Gell-Mann received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1969.
