Moshe Dayan biography

Profile

As a young man, Moshe Dayan (born May 20, 1915) joined the Haganah--an illegal Jewish defense force--and was imprisoned by British authorities. After serving in Israel's 1948 war of independence, he led the invasion of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in 1956. A follower of David Ben-Gurion, Dayan was elected to parliament, served as minister of defense, and was a chief architect of the Camp David Accords.
