Louis Malle biography

After film school, Louis Malle worked as an assistant to filmmaker Robert Bresson and co-directed the documentary Le Monde du silence (1956) with underwater explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Malle made his first feature film, Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (Frantic), the next year. He moved to the U.S. in 1975 and maintained his critically acclaimed status with films such as My Dinner with Andre.
