Kid Rock biography
Kid Rock was born January 17, 1971 in Romeo, Michigan. His albums The Polyfuze Method and Early Mornin' Stone Pimp featured lyrics too dirty to play on the radio, but relentless touring and self-promotion earned him a cult following. In 1998 his sixth album sold 11 million copies. He was able to keep the momentum after a slow start on 2001's Cocky, thanks in large part to the ballad "Picture."
Singer and musician. Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie on January 17, 1971, in Romeo, Michigan, a small rural town north of the Detroit metro area. Record labels weren't quite sure how to promote a white rapper who blended heavy metal and country rock.
His albums The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin' Stone Pimp (1996) featured lyrics too dirty to play on the radio, but relentless touring and a gift for self-promotion earned Kid Rock a cult following. In 1998, Kid Rock's sixth album Devil Without A Cause sold 11 million copies behind the single Bawitdaba. He was>able to keep the momentum after a slow start on 2001's Cocky, thanks in large part to the crossover country ballad Picture, which featured Sheryl Crow.
Kid Rock's personal life has overshadowed his career at times. He began dating actress Pamela Anderson in 2001. They became engaged in April of 2002, ended their relationship in 2003, then reunited and married in July of 2006. Four months later both he and Anderson filed for divorce.
In October 2007, Kid Rock was arrested after a brawl outside a Waffle House in Atlanta. Authorities said a male customer recognized a woman in Rock's entourage and exchanged words with her, which escalated into an argument and then a fight in the parking lot. Rock and his entourage had stopped at the restaurant after a performance. Rock and five members of his entourage were taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. He was released later in the afternoon.
Kid Rock is currently on tour to promote his newest album, Born Free (2010).
