Kevin Jonas biography
Kevin Jonas was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, on November 5, 1987. He began teaching himself guitar at age 12 and later signed a recording contract with brothers Joe and Nick, forming the hit boy band the Jonas Brothers. The siblings found great success with their band and became teen idols. Jonas has also starred in the non-scripted television show Married to Jonas, with wife Danielle.
Kevin Jonas was born Paul Kevin Jonas II on November 5, 1987, in Teaneck, New Jersey, to parents Denise, a former sign-language teacher, and Paul Kevin Sr., a former Christian minister and musician. Jonas was raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and is the oldest of four brothers.
Music was a large part of Jonas's family and upbringing. He taught himself to play guitar at age 12 and grew up singing in church choir. His brother Nick signed a recording contract with Columbia Records as a young boy. However, when Columbia Records heard collaboration songs between Nick and his brothers Joe and Kevin, the label optioned the latter two into Nick's contract.
Commercial Success: The Jonas Brothers
The Jonas Brothers released one album with Columbia but were later dropped by the label due to poor record sales. In early 2007 Disney's Hollywood Records picked up the trio, and by the summer's end their songs were heard all over Radio Disney.
The boys' success with Disney continued to climb when they guest-starred on Miley Cyrus's Disney show, Hannah Montana, earning the program its highest ratings to date. Subsequently they were asked to open for Cyrus's 2007 tour "Best of Both Worlds." The tour provided the up-and-coming band with enormous exposure.
The Jonas Brothers' self-titled album, released that same year, reached the Top 5 on the Billboard charts and went double platinum. The album's single, "S.O.S.," soared to No. 1 on iTunes.
Their follow-up album, A Little Bit Longer, landed in the Billboard Top 10, and the group released their third album with Hollywood Records, Lines, Vines and Trying Times in 2009.
Jonas expanded his career beyond music and into unscripted television in 2012. He signed on to star in Entertainment Television's docuseries Married to Jonas, centering on his life with his new wife, Danielle Deleasa.
In October 2013, the Jonas Brothers made headlines when they announced the cancellation of their fall tour. Later in the month, the brothers made another announcement, this time even more devastating to fans: the pop group had decided to part ways.
Jonas married Danielle Deleasa in December 2009, with brothers Nick and Joe as his best men.
