Keisha Castle-Hughes was born March 24, 1990, in Donnybrook, Western Australia. She was raised in the small town of Mt. Wellington, where she was selected from among several hundred children to star as Pai in 2003's acclaimed film Whale Rider. She was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for her performance. In 2005, Castle-Hughes appeared in Star Wars: Episode III, playing Regal Leader.
Early Life and Career
Actress Keisha Castle-Hughes was born March 24, 1990, in Donnybrook, Western Australia. Half Maori and half Pakeha (European New Zealander), Castle-Hughes was raised in the small town of Mt. Wellington, where she was selected from among several hundred children to star as Pai in 2003's acclaimed film Whale Rider. Though she had never acted professionally before, Castle-Hughes was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for her performance in the film.
In 2005, Castle-Hughes appeared in Star Wars: Episode III as Regal. The following year, she played Mary in The Nativity Story (2006).
Personal Life
In 2007, Castle-Hughes gave birth to a daughter, Felicity-Amore. She returned to work a few months later, continuing her career in film and television.
