Author, psychic. Born John Edward McGee, Jr. on October 19, 1969 in Glen Cove, New York. Raised Roman Catholic, John Edward worked as a phlebotomist and a ballroom dancing instructor before becoming a renowned psychic medium. He published his first book on the topic, One Last Time, in 1998.
The book's popularity and publicity led to his own television show in 1999 called Crossing Over with John Edward. The show features Edward conducting psychic readings in which he communes with the spirits of audience members' deceased relatives. The show ran on the Sci-Fi Channel until 2004. His next television project, John Edward Cross Country, first aired in 2006 on the Women's Entertainment Channel.
Though he enjoys a large and devoted following, Edward also has his share of skeptics. Critics believe Edward's psychic readings for television are more akin to shots in the dark that have been fine-tuned in the editing room.
John Edward is married to Sandra Coelho; they have two children. His other books include What If God Were the Son?, After Life: Answers from the Other Side and Practical Praying: Using the Rosary to Enhance Your Life.
