John Augustus Roebling biography

Profile

John Roebling was born June 12, 1806 in Mühlhausen, Prussia. With the growth of his reputation as a designer and builder of long-span suspension bridges, he spent less and less time at the Trenton factory. His eldest son joined him in his work, and in the 1850s and 1860s they built four suspension bridges. He designed and engineered construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, dying in the process.
