Author and literary critic John Maxwell Coetzee was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1940. He is famous for his novels about the effects of colonization, his 1997 fictionalized memoir, Boyhood, being a perfect example. In 2003, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature. He is the first writer to be awarded the Booker Prize twice. He is now an Australia citizen due to the effects of his writings.
