Jimmy Boyle was born on May 17, 1994, in Glasgow, Scotland. A member of a powerful gang in Glasgow, in 1967 he was charged with the murder of Babs Rooney and prescribed a life sentence. In 1973, he participated in Barlinnie Prison Special Unit's new rehabilitation program. He made many sculptures, and wrote an autobiography. After his release, he became a businessman and worked with young offenders.

A member of a powerful gang in Glasgow, he was twice charged with murder and cleared, and was eventually imprisoned for serious assault. His reputation as ??Scotland's Most Violent Man?? appeared to be confirmed when he was convicted for the murder of Babs Rooney in 1967 and given a life sentence. In 1973 he was one of the first offenders to participate in Barlinnie Prison Special Unit's rehabilitation programme. He went on to produce many sculptures, and to write his autobiography, A Sense of Freedom (1977). After his release in 1987, he became a businessman, worked with young offenders, and is one of Scotland's most famous reformed criminals.
