Jiang Qing biography

Jiang Qing, born in March, 1914 in Tsucheng, China, was an actress before joining the country’s Communist party and marrying Mao Tse-tung. After Mao assumed power in 1949, she eventually became part of his Gang of Four and, with her own leadership ambitions, oversaw extreme public and political actions during the Cultural Revolution. She was sentenced to life imprisonment after Mao’s death.
