J.G. Ballard biography

Profile

J.G. Ballard's boyhood in the International Settlement in China in the 1930s intensely influenced his later writings. Ballard was a key figure in the New Wave movement in science fiction, so much so, his work gave rise the adjective "Ballardian." He wrote Empire of the Sun (made into a film by Spielberg) and Crash. He has been called one of Britain's greatest writers since 1945. He died in 2006.
