Jeanne Moreau was born on January 23, 1928 in Paris, France. The daughter of a dancer in the Folies Bergère, Moreau began acting in her teens. She went on to become one of the pre-eminent actresses in the French New Wave film movement, starring in François Truffaut’s Jules et Jim in 1962. By the start of the 21st century, Moreau had starred in more than 130 films, and worked with film legends including: Jean-Luc Godard, Orson Welles and Louis Malle.
