James Mill was a Scottish historian, economist, and philosopher. He successfully propagated the radical philosophical belief of Utilitarianism, an approach to philosophy based on scientific evidence, and a humanistic approach to politics and economics. His Elements of Political Economy clearly spell out his views. His son John Stuart Mill became a celebrated and respected Utilitarian thinker.
