James M. Buchanan is an American economist best known for his work on public choice theory, for which he receive the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1986.
Born in Tennessee on October 3, 1919, James M. Buchanan is an American economist best known for his work on public choice theory. His contributions in research on how politicians' self-interest and non-economic forces affect government economic policy earned him the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1986. His best known work is The Calculus of Consent: Logical Foundations of Constitutional Democracy.
