Jack Huston biography
Born on December 7, 1982, in London, England, Jack Huston is part of the famed Huston acting/directing clan and pursued thespian work himself, starring in television and film projects like Spartacus, Outlander and The Twilight Saga. Huston has earned acclaim for his role as tortured hit man Richard Harrow on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, and in 2013 was featured in the films Kill Your Darlings and American Hustle.
Jack Alexander Huston was born on December 7, 1982, in London, England, to Lady Margot Lavinia Cholmondeley and Tony Huston, a screenwriter and yoga devotee who is part of the Huston film clan. (Jack's beloved aunt is actress Anjelica Huston while his grandfather was director John Huston and great-grandfather was actor Walter Huston.)
Jack Huston grew up in England and decided to pursue an acting life as well, doing stage work in his home city before moving to America at the suggestion of Anjelica.
TV and Film Roles
Huston made his small-screen debut with the role of Flavius for the 2004 TV epic Spartacus, on the USA network. Work on the big-screen soon followed as seen in 2006's Factory Girl, a biopic on model Edie Sedgwick.
Additional movie projects included roles in the woodsy horror vehicle Shrooms (2008), the aliens vs. Vikings flick Outlander (2008) and the erotic, marital drama Garden of Eden (2010), based on the uncompleted novel by Ernest Hemingway and in which Huston portrays a writer. He also had a small part as Royce King II in 2010's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Huston continued to make his way in TV on both sides of the pond. He played Dr. Charles Haden in the 2008 BBC/Masterpiece production Miss Austen Regrets and was featured in the short-lived 2009 supernatural series Eastwick.
Huston, who prefers character acting, landed the part of tortured soul Richard Harrow on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire in 2010. Harrow, a former sniper who was physically and emotionally disfigured in World War I and hides part of his face with a mask, became a recurring character who is a hired killer yet also hesitantly finds romance. Huston, who's earned acclaim for the role, was part of the Boardwalk cast that won a 2011 Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding ensemble performance in a drama.
Plays Jack Kerouac
The 2012 holidays saw Huston and his canine, Orso, modeling for the Gap and the actor co-starring with James Gandolfini in the rock music film Not Fade Away. In spring of the following year, Huston welcomed a newborn daughter with girlfriend Shannan Click.
The fall season saw the release of the John Krokidas film Kill Your Darlings, which chronicles the life of Allen Ginsberg (played by Daniel Radcliffe) during his Columbia University years. Huston portrays fellow scribe Jack Kerouac with the film co-starring Dane DeHaan, Ben Foster and Kyra Sedgwick, among others. Huston is also featured in the Leo Tolstoy adaptation Two Jacks, and co-stars with Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale in the FBI drama American Hustle. The latter, directed by David O. Russell, is slated for a December 2013 release.
