J. Craig Venter biography

Born on October 14, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, J. Craig Venter went on to receive his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego. Venter developed a pioneering system for tagging genes called expressed sequencing tags (ESTs), and later sequenced the entire human genome. He also founded the J. Craig Venter Research Institute and has done work in synthetic biology.
