Iannis Xenakis biography

Iannis Xenakis was born on May 29, 1922, in Braila, Romania. An ethnic Romanian and naturalized French composer, Xenakis created electronic music using mathematical equations. One of his most famous works is Métastaseis (1953-54). His relationship with the Paris Instrumental Ensemble for Contemporary Music led to numerous recordings of his works. In 1966, Xenakis established the School of Mathematical and Automatic Music. He died on February 4, 2001, in Paris, France.
