Henry Morgan biography

Profile

Henry Morgan was a Welsh Navy Admiral who led a raid of Spain's Caribbean colonies in the late 17th century. An adventurous privateer, he commanded invasions of Puerto Principe in Cuba and the city of Panama. In 1674 he was knighted by King Charles II and sent to work in Jamaica as a deputy governor. Accounts of his ventures, in which he'd desert his followers and keep the treasure for himself, have formed his legacy as one of the most notorious buccaneers in history.
