Henry IV was born on December 13, 1553, in Pau, France. During the Wars of Religion, he fought for the Protestants. In 1572, he became Henry III, King of Navarre. In 1588, he ordered Henri Duke of Guise killed, seizing the throne as Henry IV, King of France in 1589. In 1598, he issued an edict giving religious freedom to Protestants. He was assassinated by a Catholic on May 14, 1610, in Paris, France.
