George Heard Hamilton biography

Synopsis

Art historian George Heard Hamilton was born in 1910 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied at Yale University and the University of Cambridge. From 1936 to 1966, he taught a Yale. In 1966, became the director of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and stayed there until 1977. Hamilton was an expert on 19th and 20th century art. He died in 2004.
