George Cabot biography

Born on January 16, 1752, George Cabot attended Harvard University. After school, he went to sea and became a successful merchant and ship-owner. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1791 to 1796 and was appointed director of the U.S. Bank of the United States in 1793. He supported Alexander Hamilton’s fiscal policies. In 1814, he presided at the Hartford Convention. He died in 1823.
