Gabriel Lippmann biography

Gabriel Lippmann was born on August 16, 1845, in Hollerich, Luxembourg. He grew up in Paris. In 1886 he became head of the Sorbonne’s Laboratories of Physical Research. In 1891, he created a color photography process using the natural color of light wavelengths instead of dyes and pigments. The process never caught on, but it did advance color photography and he received the Nobel Prize in 1908.
