Fritz Lang was born on Dec. 5, 1890 in Vienna, Austria. He studied architecture and painting briefly before serving in World War I. After the War, he began writing screenplays and became a director of German films until his work attracted the attention of the Nazis. He relocated to the United States and directed films in the U.S. His best-known film was 1936’s Fury.
