Writer Filippo Tommaso Emilio Marinetti was born on December 22, 1876, in Alexandria, Egypt. His work founded the ideology of Futurism, in particular is 1909 publication in the Paris newspaper Le Figaro. His ideas were adopted in Italy and he wrote novels and plays exploring his theory. He lost his following in the 1920s, however, when he became a fascist. He died in 1944.
