Edward I biography
Profile
Born June 17, 1239, Edward I became king in 1272. He developed an interest in parliament, earning the nickname "English Justinian" for his many statutes (he was also called "Edward Longshanks" for his unusual height). Embroiled in war for much of his reign, he conquered Wales, failed to conquer Scotland, and fought with France over lands in Gascony. In 1290, he expelled all Jews from England.
