David Mamet biography

In 1973 David Mamet founded the St. Nicholas Theatre Co. in Chicago and won wide notice with Sexual Perversity in Chicago in 1974. His Glengarry Glen Ross was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1983. Mamet became known for rapid-fire dialogue studded with obscenities and for his preoccupation with power relationships and corporate corruption. His screenplays include The Verdict and The Untouchables.
