David Lynch studied art in Europe and began experimenting with film in the late 1960s. In 1977 he made his first feature, Eraserhead, which became a cult favorite. He next directed The Elephant Man, for which he received two Academy Award nominations. Lynch has also directed Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and several other films and created the offbeat TV series Twin Peaks (1990–1991).
