Charles G. Dawes was a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize who became the 30th U.S. vice president under Calvin Coolidge.
Born on August 27, 1865, in Marietta, Ohio, Charles G. Dawes was a lawyer before becoming U.S. currency comptroller. He would go on to author the Dawes Plan, which provided economic relief for Germany after World War I, and was a joint recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925. He later served as vice president under Calvin Coolidge. An author and musician as well, Dawes died on April 23, 1951.
