Charles Boyer was an Oscar-nominated French actor of stage, film and television with a career that spanned almost six decades.
Born on August 28, 1899, in Figeac, France, Charles Boyer had an acting career onstage before becoming a romantic film icon. Working in both Europe and the U.S., his career has spanned decades and includes classics like Garden of Allah, Algiers, Love Affair, Gaslight and Fanny. He received four Oscar nominations and earned a special award in 1942 for founding the French Research Foundation. Boyer died on August 26, 1978, in Phoenix, Arizona.
