Born March 6, 1905, in Texas, Bob Wills was an American country music fiddler, singer, and songwriter. In 1934 he formed the Texas Playboys, and their radio performances made him a star in the Southwest. They pioneered the “western swing” genre, blending traditional hoedown fiddling with big-band swing and blues. Wills’ best-known compositions include 'San Antonio Rose' and 'Panhandle Rag.'
