Historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. was born October 15, 1917 and graduated from Harvard University in 1938. After serving in the Office of Strategic Services during World War II, he taught at Harvard and won the Pulitzer Prize for The Age of Jackson. His book about serving as an adviser to the Kennedy administration, A Thousand Days, won him another Pulitzer as well as a National Book Award.
