Synopsis

Arthur Hailey (born April 5, 1920) served in World War II in England's Royal Air Force. He then emigrated to Canada and worked in industry and sales before becoming a freelance writer in 1956. His first blockbuster novel was Hotel (1965), followed by Airport (1968) and Wheels (1971). Later novels include The Evening News (1990) and Detective (1997). Hailey died in The Bahamas in 2004.
