Anton Denikin biography
Born on December 16, 1872, near Warsaw, Poland (part of Russia at the time), Anton Denikin rose through the Russian military, becoming major-general during World War I. He led the ranks of the volunteer White Army against the Bolshevik Red Army of Vladimir Lenin. Denikin was ousted from the country in 1920 upon defeat and later published historical works and memoirs. He died on August 8, 1947.
