Andrew Wyeth was born on July 12, 1917 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. He was trained by his father, N.C. Wyeth. His subjects were drawn from the Chadds Ford area, including his famous Christina's World, depicting a polio victim trying to climb a hill. He was the first painter awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the first artist to receive the Congressional Gold Medal. He died in 2009.
