Profile

Andreas Feininger was born on December 27, 1906 in Paris. The son of the painter Lyonel Feininger, he studied cabinetmaking and architecture at the Bauhaus and established a Swedish firm specializing in architectural and industrial photography. He immigrated to New York City and became a staff photographer for Life magazine. Feininger wrote prolifically on photographic technique. He died in 1999.
