Architect Albert Kahn was born on March 21, 1869, in Rhaunen, Germany. After working with various Detroit architects, he established his own firm in 1902, which developed into one of the largest in architectural history. In 1904, he was given his first commission for an auto factory. Kahn became the principal architect for most of the large American automobile companies for 30 years. He died on December 8, 1942, in Michigan.
