Cytologist Albert Claude was born August 24, 1898, in Longlier, Belgium. In 1928, Claude he began cell research an New York City. In 1942 he turned to the electron microscope. His demonstration of the instrument's usefulness helped scientists to correlate the biological activity of cellular components with their structures and places in the cell. For this work, he shared a Nobel Prize in 1974.
