American golfer Webb Simpson was born on August 8, 1985, in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the age of 26, Simpson won the 2012 U.S. Open—his first major tournament victory—with a final score of 1-over par. During the tournament, he competed against past U.S. Open winners, including Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk, as well as several golfers who previously ranked at the annual event, including Michael Thompson and David Toms. Simpson first won on the PGA Tour in August of 2011—at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina—and went on to win the 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship in Massachusetts.
