Barbary Coast (1935) was Walter Brenan’s first of his seven collaborations with director Howard Hawks, but his breakthrough role was that of the Swedish lumberman Swan Bostrom in Come and Get It (1936), which earned for him his first Best Supporting Actor Academy Award.
